Bertrand Barbier is the man hiding behind this rather obscure French project.

Active since the late 90s Sobria Ebrietas already has an impressive number of releases, but unfortunately for the project, on rather small labels.

On the “Secret Chord” this project probably delivers one of its hardest pieces for so far.

From start on you’ll feel imprisoned in a mysterious soundscape where dark ambient impressions and noise elements are coming together. I like the way the noise input progressively rises to the surface to finally dominate the rest of the album.

The 3rd track is a real impressive piece of a noise wave that goes into a crescendo. This cut is a pure sonic earthquake where you really get frightened.

I dare to say that this is a real intelligent form of noise where the ambient effect remains intact. Sobria Ebrietas brings noise in a different daylight and without being an adept of this style it’s one of the first times I’ve been that impressed.
